Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions: how AstraRox works, what it really computes, and what happens to your data.

How are the horoscope and the sign ranking calculated?

The positions of the Sun, Moon and planets come from astronomical ephemerides computed for the exact day, not from a fixed table. From those come the aspects and the houses of each sign, and from those figures come both the ranking score and the reading itself. Change the sky and the result changes.

Is AstraRox free? Do I have to sign up?

The whole site is free and there is no sign-up: no accounts, no subscriptions, no cap on how many charts you can run. You never have to leave an email address either, unless you choose to write to us from the contact page.

What do I need for a birth chart?

Your date, time and place of birth. All three matter: the date fixes the planetary positions, the place decides which part of the sky was rising in the east, and the time sets the Ascendant, which moves about one degree every four minutes.

I do not know my exact birth time. Can I still do it?

Yes, with one caveat. Without an exact time the planets in the signs stay reliable, while the Ascendant and the houses become indicative. If you have an approximate time, use it and treat the Ascendant as a hypothesis rather than a fact.

What is the difference between Western and Vedic astrology?

Where the zodiac starts. Western astrology starts from the spring equinox, Vedic astrology from the fixed stars, and the two systems are now about twenty-four degrees apart. That is why your Vedic sign is almost always the one before the sign you know.

What is the Matrix of Destiny?

A recent numerological method that lays twenty-two positions on an octagram, derived from your date of birth and mapped onto the major arcana of the tarot. It is not astronomy: it is a symbolic system, and it should be read as one.

Go to
Is my birth data stored anywhere?

No. The calculation happens inside your browser and there is no database behind the site. If you turn saving on, the data stays in your own device’s memory purely so you do not have to type it again, and unticking the box clears it. The one exception is the contact form, which exists so we can reply to you.

How often is the horoscope updated?

The sky is recomputed every day, and the daily, tomorrow, weekly and monthly readings look at different windows of the same motion. The ranking moves with them, because it measures how far the transits of that period favour each sign.

Tarot and pendulum: how do they actually work?

The draw is random, and we promise nothing more than that. The worth of a reading is not in the card that turns up but in the question it makes you ask: they are there to sharpen a thought, not to predict an event.

Is astrology a science?

No, and we do not present it as one. The calculations are astronomical — the positions of celestial bodies can be measured and checked — while the interpretation belongs to a symbolic tradition thousands of years old. AstraRox is a tool for self-knowledge and wellbeing, not a diagnostic or predictive one.
